The grand and magnificent Medicine Buddha is also known as the great Buddha of Medicine, the Medicine Buddha of elongating longevity and eliminating calamities. He is also known as the figure of the Eastern Pure Land. The Medicine Buddha’s 12 Great Vows are to fulfill all sentient beings’ wishes; to aid people in overcoming poverty, illness, suffering, pain and to fulfill the needs of people.
